SOPHIA SALA is an artist specializing in illustration, background art, visdev, and animation from Annapolis, MD. Currently, she is working on illustrating an unannounced middle-grade book series with Penguin Workshop (Penguin Random House) and creating bright UI and marketing illustrations with UX is Fine. She enjoys visual storytelling, solving creative problems, and learning from creative people. She’s at her happiest when she’s adding a million little details to her work. Sophia primarily works digitally but also likes to paint and draw traditionally, especially en plein air. 

 

Sophia graduated in 2025 from the Maryland Institute College of Art, where she majored in illustration with an animation minor. A few of her other clients include Oracle Red Bull Racing, Manchester City for Premiere League in US (with Two Circles), Arrow McLaren, INDYCAR, and Adult Swim (with Kissing Party). In June 2025, Sophia's illustration work was featured by Formula 1 Academy as the official poster art for the 2025 Montreal Grand Prix. Her background designs were also featured in numerous MICA short films.

 

When she’s not working, you can probably find running on the B&A Trail, playing Pokemon, watching Formula 1 and INDYCAR, or going on adventures with her friends.
